I bet you didn't know all of this about Nike!
Originally Nike was known as Blue Ribbon Sports, it was founded by a track athlete Philip Knight and his coach Bill Bowerman in January 1964. The company initially operated as a distributor for Japanese shoe maker Onitsuka Tiger, making most sales at track meets out of Knight's automobile.
The company's profits grew
quickly, and in 1966, BRS opened its first retail store, located on Pico
Boulevard in Santa Monica, California. By 1971, the relationship between Knight and Tiger was nearly coming to an end . Blue Ribbon Sports prepared to launch its own line of
footwear, which would bear the newly designed Swoosh by Carolyn Davidson.
By 1972 Nike had made up a swoosh that is now on the products today, that swoosh was first appeared in 1972 on a soccer shoe. Its known to date that every nike product has that swoosh on it.
